About Amber’s Swimming Academy

While working as a Triathlon coach I was asked by a parent if I would coach her young daughter one to one to build on her swimming ability, The lessons were a great success and as a result more parents were contacting me to teach their children.

Lessons were not restricted to children as I started to teach a lady in her 60′s who was so afraid of water she declined invitations to a friends house because they had a swimming pool.

I have been qualified as a swimming teacher for three years and in that time I have worked for Private and council sports clubs covering all aspects of teaching, coaching and the delivery of holiday/leisure activities.

About Amber

I have been a qualified swimming instructor since 2009. I have taught for a number of companies in Sheffield, including Concord Sports Center  Virgin Active, Mylnhurst Primary School, Sheffield Triathlon Club.

I have delivered lessons following the ASA National Plan and the National Curriculum. I have taught all ages from babies up to adults and all abilities from beginners to advance. I have taught many children and adults that were scared or had a phobia of water, I helped them overcome their fears and in no time at all they were swimming strokes with the correct technique. I have taught children and adults with disabilities including hearing loss, autism, dyspraxia, ADHD, down syndrome.

I am currently still coaching swimming for Sheffield Triathlon Club and teaching swimming at Ponds Forge International Venue.

I can highly recommend Amber as a swimming teacher! I had never been able to swim (I am in my fifties) but after only 5 lessons, I am now swimming breaststroke and back stroke on my own. Amber teaches you the basics and the principles, so even if you don’t swim correctly to start with, she does not mind, as she knows you will get the hang of it with practice. Each week she told me (in a good way) what I was doing wrong, so I soon got the hang of it. Brilliant – I wouldn’t have joined the gym if she hadn’t pro-actively contacted me and offered to teach me to swim. quote-right
